Hong Kong: Hang Seng expands delivery channels for SMEs
In another move to become the preferred bank for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Hong Kong, Hang Seng Bank has expanded its delivery channels for SMEs.
Among the new business initiatives is the launch of Business Partner Direct — a 24-hour manned SME service hotline (2198-8000), which came into operation today.
This new service enables SMEs to discuss their financial needs with the Bank around the clock. A new TV commercial that shows how Hang Seng supports SMEs and helps them develop their business was also unveiled at today’s launch ceremony. The commercial features Mr Charlie Yip, Managing Director of OTO Bodycare (HK) Ltd, who attended the ceremony to share how having Hang Seng as a banking partner has played a crucial role in the growth of his company. Mr Raymond Or, Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive of the Bank, officiated at the ceremony and presented a souvenir to Mr Yip to thank him for his support of Hang Seng. The Bank’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with SME customers has seen it win the Best Banking Service Award at the ‘SME’s Best Partner Awards’, organised by the Hong Kong Chamber of Small and Medium Business. Mr Thomas Tsui, Assistant General Manager and Head of Business Banking of the Bank, said: “The SME segment is one of our key business focuses. Our customer research has shown that SMEs value the personal touch and direct access to the Bank for services. A manned telephone service and branch access are their preferred channels for communicating with the Bank. Initiatives such as our 24-hour ‘Business Partner Direct’ hotline service and designated SME Services Ambassadors at all branches have been introduced in specific response to customers’ needs. “These new services complement our other expanding delivery channels, which include Business Banking Centres and enlarged account servicing teams. Together, these channels will help strengthen our partnerships with SME customers,” he said. Three new Business Banking Centres in Chai Wan, Cheung Sha Wan and Kwun Tong will be set up in the second half of 2006, taking the total number of Business Banking Centres to 13. Starting from July 2006, SMEs will enjoy the convenience of being able to submit remittance applications at all MTR and Airport Express Terminal branches that offer counter services and all Business Banking Centres.
