Thai bourse funds TV Money Channel to expand investor base
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has allocated funds to Money Channel for investor base expansion, and to increase public understanding of investment. The TV station will thus play a key role in SET’s educational strategy. “SET’s Board views education and information as crucial for investors, and Money Channel is a source of up-to-date and essential information.
Thus, the Board resolved, on July 26, to allocate funds to the station as part of our educational strategy,” SET Executive Vice-President and Board secretary, Ms. Nongram Wongwanich, announced. Money Channel brings knowledge about personal finance and investment in equity, debt and derivatives products, including agricultural derivatives, to a wide audience. The Channel keeps people up-to-date on current events, news, and issues, and links directly with Thai capital market sources, such as SET and related organizations. “The budget of THB 82.64 million will be used to purchase equipment, enabling Money Channel to show over 20 educational programs on its 24/7 service. Audiences will be surveyed to obtain feedback and further develop the service,” Ms. Nongram added. Currently, Money Channel is available nationwide via the provincial cable TV network, UBC97, on selected websites ( www.settrade.com , www.hispeedworld.com , www.buddybroadband.com ), and on the Thai Global Network (TGN), broadcast through the KU band satellite to 11 countries. It can also be viewed at about 700 major locations, hotels, and hospitals. For more information, please contact the Corporate Communications Dept.:
