Thai bourse supports World University Games
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s Board approved a budget of THB 40 million to support ‘Summer World University Games 2007’, to be hosted, for the first time, by Thailand during August 8 – 18, 2007. “The Board noted that the games will enhance the country’s image and reputation, and contribute to higher standards in Thai sport.
The funds will be used to renovate Suphachalasai Stadium, including Nimibutr Gymnasium, one of the official sports’ venues. The work will provide sustainable benefit, as the stadium will available after the games have finished,” SET’s Executive Vice President, and Board secretary, Ms. Nongram Wongwanich declared. . Thailand was chosen to host Summer World University Games 2007 by the International University Sports Federation (Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire). Eight thousand five hundred students from 170 countries are expected to participate, with 26 facilities in and around Bangkok accommodating 15 different sports.
