The Erawan Group invests 1.8 billion baht to build Holiday Inn Pattaya, its biggest project yet
The Erawan Group Plc. further stresses its intention to tap the lucrative Pattaya’s hospitality market by announcing a Baht 1.8 billion investment in a 367-room Holiday Inn. The site is a 6.5-rai plot of freehold land, part of the 20.5 rais recently acquired, adjacent to Amari Orchid in Central Pattaya. InterContinental Hotels Group (“IHG”) has been signed on to operate this resort under its largest brand “Holiday Inn”.

Bank of Ayudhya (BAY) acquires majority ownership of Ayudhya JF Asset Management (AJF)
BAY to own 77%; remaining 23% split among associated BAY companies. Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited (BAY) today announced it has increased its stake in Ayudhya JF Asset Management Limited (AJF) to 77%. AJF was previously a joint venture between BAY and JF Asset Management (JFAM).

Asian Governments should stay on alert for financial downturn: UNESCAP
UNESCAP is issuing a warning to Asian governments to reduce exposure to the impact of a sudden or unexpected market downturn, urging a mood of protection and preparation rather than the celebratory atmosphere of today’s prosperity.
Asian countries have to stay alert despite the lull in financial markets recently, says UNESCAP in a new report: “The Calm Before the Storm? Managing the Risks of an Asia-Pacific Financial Downturn”.

Malaysia: RHB Capital reports net interest income of RM921.2 million
RHB Capital Berhad (“RHB Capital”) announced today its financial performance for the six months ended 30 June 2006.
For the financial period under review, RHB Capital (“The Group”) reported a consolidated profit before INCPS dividends, taxation and zakat of RM460.3 million, a 30% increase as compared to the previous year’s corresponding period. Meanwhile, profit attributable to equity holders of the parent recorded an increase of RM47.1 million or 29% to RM212.2 million, compared to the same period in 2005.

Hong Kong: BOC reports 34.3% increase in operating profit
BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited (“the Company”, Stock Code 2388; ADR OTC Symbol “BHKLY”) today announced its 2006 interim results. The Company and its subsidiaries (“the Group”) registered a profit attributable to shareholders of HK$7,093 million for the first half of 2006, an increase of 8.4% compared with the same period of 2005.
