Thai Futures Exchange hosts experts’ competition to expand investor base
Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX), in conjunction with four leading brokers, will use simulation-based approaches in the competition, “TFEX Futures Camp: Challenge 2007”, on SET50 Index Futures and SET50 Index Options in May 2007. Applications can be made online at www.tfex.co.th from March 1.
The challenge will deepen participants’ understanding of derivatives trading and provide investors with hands-on experience and greater confidence. “TFEX Futures Camp: Challenge 2007” takes place over three rounds in May, August, and October, providing players with training, practice and, hopefully, a good time. TFEX will co-host the event with Kim Eng Securities (Thailand) PCL, KGI Securities (Thailand) PCL, Trinity Polaris Futures Co., Ltd., and Thanachart Securities PCL, with SETTTRADE.Com Co., Ltd. and Thailand Securities Institute (TSI) also actively involved, TFEX Managing Director Ms. Kesara Manchusree said. “Kim Eng is pleased to be a part of this program. The company staff will help train applicants in the proper use of derivatives. This event is expected to significantly boost the investor base,” Kim Eng Securities CEO Mr. Montree Sornpaisarn added. “Similarly, KGI is keen to educate people about derivatives and give them more confidence in investing in this product. The simulation game will make people more familiar with SET50 Index Futures and SET50 Index Options, and with online trading. The greater their understanding, the more the market will benefit and grow,” KGI Securities Executive Vice President Mr. Tanavatt Bhanijkasem stated. “Futures trading isn’t so difficult to understand, but it is new to the Thai market. So TFEX’s event is timely in that it will familiarize people with the product. The program provides participants with an early opportunity to gain first-hand experience in SET50 Index Options before other investors. In terms of broader considerations, futures and options are important in countering stock market volatility,” Trinity Polaris Futures Managing Director Mr. Charnchai Kongthongluck noted. “The derivatives market is ready to grow. Therefore Thanachart Securities holds ongoing investor education and marketer training as very high priorities, as they benefit both investors and the market”, Thanachart Securities Managing Director Ms. Asvini Tailanga added. “In addition to ‘TFEX Futures Camp: Challenge 2007’, we will be offering several seminars throughout the year, focusing specifically on SET50 Index Options, leading up to its launch in Q3/2007,” Ms. Kesara said. The three top scoring players in each round of “TFEX Futures Camp: Challenge 2007” will be qualified for prizes totaling THB 300,000. The first round will feature SET50 Index Futures only, with SET50 Index Options coming into the 2nd and 3rd rounds. For more information and application, please visit www.tfex.co.th/challenge
