May 30th, 2007

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and its sister market for high-potential firms - Market for Alternative Investment (mai) – are hosting an event on June 6  where young entrepreneurs can present their business plans to listed companies and venture capitalists.

The teams have already progressed through the final rounds of two prominent business planning competitions — ‘mai Bangkok Business Challenge @ Sasin 2007’ and ‘Thammasat Asia Moot Corp? 2007’. By making the finals of these competitions, they have demonstrated their ability to create innovative products and write superior business plans. “The teams will have an opportunity to realize their business ideas and potential by presenting their plans to companies and venture capitalists, who might be looking for business extensions or new investment opportunities. The event is an exercise in business matching,” mai President Mr. Chanitr Charnchainarong said. The five teams presenting are: 1)      CropPro from Bangkok University, whose plan features straight vegetable oil and animal feed production from camelina sativa for use in industries such as bio-diesel industry.

2)      Castilla Co., Ltd. from College of Management, Mahidol University, who will present a business plan for a rubber formulation company compounding natural and synthetic rubber with special additives and innovative processes to enhance consistency in rubber.
