People’s United Financial, Inc. (NASDAQ:PBCT) , the holding company for People’s United Bank, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Chittenden Corporation (NYSE:CHZ) in a stock and cash transaction valued at $1.9 billion. Consummation of the agreement is subject to the approval of the shareholders of Chittenden, as well as various regulatory agencies.

Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. (NYSE:FIS) and EFD/eFunds Corporation (NYSE:EFD) has announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement whereby FIS will acquire EFD in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $1.8 billion.

LiquidityHub, a consortium of leading investment banks in the fixed income markets for the aggregation of liquidity and market data in support of electronic trading, has announced it has selected BT to provide connectivity and hosting services.

LiquidityHub’s high volume messaging system of fixed income dealer prices and transaction data will be hosted in a BT data centre in London and available via the Radianz Shared Market Infrastructure.

The Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) and Raiffeisen International have signed two loan agreements last night under which CEB will provide a total of 50 million euros of long term funding for the benefit of small and medium-sized enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

TRIS Rating Co., Ltd. has assigned the company rating of Asian Property Development PLC (AP) and the rating of AP’s proposed up to Bt3,000 million senior debentures at “BBB+” with “stable” rating outlook. Aberdeen Asset Management is to launch its first fixed income foreign investment fund, the Aberdeen Emerging Opportunities Bond Fund. The IPO period will be from July 4 to July 17, 2007.

The Aberdeen Emerging Opportunities Bond Fund will invest in bonds issued by governments and companies across the developing world, both hard and local currency issues.
