Lone Star extends tender offer to acquire Accredited
LSF5 Accredited Investments, LLC (”Lone Star”), a subsidiary of Lone Star Fund V (U.S.), L.P., has announced that it is extending its tender offer for all outstanding shares of common stock of Accredited Home Lenders Holding Co. (NASDAQ:LEND) (the “Company”) until 12:00 midnight on September 12, 2007, in accordance with Lone Star’s obligations under the merger agreement with the Company.
On August 10, 2007, Lone Star filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (”SEC”) an amendment to its Tender Offer Statement in which it indicated that, as of that date, the Company had not satisfied all of the conditions to the closing of the tender offer in light of, among other things, the drastic deterioration in the financial and operational condition of the Company.

Credit Suisse appoints head of Financial Institutions Group Asia ex-Japan
Credit Suisse announced that it has appointed Robert Jesudason as a Managing Director and Head of the Financial Institutions Group for Asia ex-Japan. Maybank Singapore credit card utilisation in Malaysia to grow
Maybank will be launching a slew of new card benefits to target Singaporean visitors travelling to Malaysia for business and leisure. This is intended to boost overseas credit card transactions in Malaysia by 30% a year.
This campaign will be launched in conjunction with the Maybank-sponsored conference on Business Opportunities in Malaysia cum dialogue session with Malaysia’s Minister of International Trade and Industry, Dato’ Seri Rafidah Aziz, on 28 August 2007 in Singapore.

First BanCorp completes $94.8 million private placement with Scotiabank
First BanCorp (NYSE:FBP) has announced the completion of its sale of 9.250 million shares of First BanCorp’s common stock to Scotiabank (TSX, NYSE: BNS) in a private placement. Scotiabank has funded the transaction paying $10.25 per First BanCorp common share, for a total purchase price of approximately $94.8 million.
