Surge Of Defaults This Year Already Exceeds Last Two Full-Year Totals, Article Says
Mounting defaults in 2008 come as hardly surprising, overdue if anything, said an article published today by Standard & Poor’s. The article, which is titled “U.S. Credit Comment: The Bust After The Boom (Premium),” says that years of an accommodative economic and financial environment have emboldened many entities to adopt more aggressive financial policies to spur growth amid increased domestic and global competition.

Administrative court gives green light to the NTC to force TOT Plc
Administrative court gives green light to the NTC to force TOT Plc to negotiate an interconnection agreement with dtac The Central Administrative Court has dismissed TOT Plc’s petition requiring the Court to prevent the Secretary General of the NTC from forcing TOT to enter into interconnect agreements with Total Access Communication (“dtac”).
The Court states that, as dtac and TOT Plc have maintained the network interconnection, TOT Plc and dtac should enter into interconnection agreements in accordance with the order of the NTC, which should include interconnection method and the settlement of all expenses with a view to securing the uninterrupted provision of the services to the public.

To improve information dissemination and investor relations (IR), Thailand’s Market for Alternative Investment (mai), together with Solution Corner (1998) PCL, or (SLC), mai’s first listed software firm, is producing mai-listed firms’ annual reports in electronic book (e-book) format on www.mai.or.th and www.iloveLibrary.com
“The e-book option was implemented because annual report files may be too large to allow easy access for some people via the website or The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s information distribution system.

Exchange facilitates foreign firms and Thai joint ventures listing in Thailand
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s New Listing Committee recommends amending some rules to facilitate foreign companies and Thai joint ventures abroad to list on the local market. They also propose targeting firms in the booming agribusiness and food industry sectors to list by 2009.

SET moves MILL from the mai to the SET Main Board
MILL CON STEEL INDUSTRIES PUBLIC COMPANY LIMITED (MILL) a listed company trading on the Market for Alternative Investment (mai) since November 6, 2007 has filed an application requesting the SET to instruct the trading of its ordinary shares on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).
The SET has considered MILL’s qualifications and deeded that it is fully qualified according to the rules of the Stock Exchange of Thailand related to the Listing of Ordinary Shares or Preferred Shares as Listed Securities, 2001.
DBS first quarter earnings at S$603 million
Earnings reflect business volume growth and disciplined cost management amid weaker financial markets
DBS Group Holdings reported net earnings of SGD 603 million for first quarter 2008, a 2% dip from a year ago as sustained business volume growth and disciplined cost management offset the impact of weak trading and capital markets activities.
