Thai bourse increases futures trading volumes and plans gold and stock futures

For the first half of 2008, Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX) recorded an average daily trading volume which rose by an impressive 122% year-on-year (y-o-y). The exchange expects the increase of turnover as there are lots of interest in gold and stock futures, TFEX’s new products.

TFEX and related agencies have concentrated on investor base expansion despite market conditions and external factors being far from favorable.

AmInvestment Bank declares income distributions for two ETFs

AmInvestment Bank Group has declared interim income distributions for its two exchange traded funds (ETFs), FBM30etf and ABF Malaysia Bond Index Fund for the financial year ending 31 December 2008.

On 10 July 2008, FBM30etf declared a distribution of 10 sen per unit while ABF Malaysia Bond Index Fund announced a distribution of 1.55 sen per unit on 9 July 2008.

Moody’s assigns A3 first-time deposit rating to Public Bank (HK)

Moody’s Investors Services has assigned first-time ratings to Public Bank (Hong Kong) Ltd (”PBHK”). They are A3 long-term, Prime-1 short-term foreign currency and local currency deposit ratings, and “C-” bank financial strength rating (”BFSR”). The outlook for all the ratings is stable.

“PBHK’s BFSR of ‘C-’ incorporates the bank’s solid capital position, good credit quality, and the management’s experience in dealing with a severe operating environment,” says Leo Wah, a Moody’s Vice President/Senior Analyst.

Fitch Ratings (Thailand) Limited has today affirmed IRPC Public Company Limited’s (IRPC) National Long-term rating at ‘A-(tha)’ (A minus(tha)) and its National Short-term rating at ‘F2(tha)’. At the same time, the agency has affirmed the ‘A-(tha)’ (A minus(tha)) National Long-term rating on IRPC’s outstanding senior unsecured and unsubordinated debentures amounting to THB10 billion.
