TRIS Rating Assigns New Issue Rating to “TUF” at “A+/Stable”

TRIS Rating Co., Ltd. has assigned the rating of “A+” to the proposed issue of up to Bt4,000 million in senior debentures to Thai Union Frozen Products PLC (TUF). At the same time, TRIS Rating has affirmed the current company and issue ratings of TUF at “A+”.

Moody’s reviews TFHC and TIB for possible downgrade

NTD 8 billion in TFHC-issued subdebts affected

Moody’s Investors Service has placed all ratings of Taishin Financial Holding Company (TFHC) and its fully owned subsidiary bank, Taishin International Bank (TIB), on review for possible downgrade. At the same time, Moody’s Taiwan Corporation has placed all national scale ratings (NSR) of TIB and TFHC on review for possible downgrade.

Nomura to close acquisition of Lehman in Europe and Middle East

Nomura, the pre-eminent Asia-based investment bank, today announced that the conditions to closing the acquisition of Lehman Brothers’ investment banking and equities businesses in Europe and the Middle East had been met. The deal will become legally effective on Monday, 13 October.

The transaction represents a significant step for Nomura in its strategy to accelerate growth across international markets and follows the company’s acquisition of Lehman Brothers’ Asian franchise last week.

HKMA investigates alleged mis-selling of Lehman products

October 7th, 2008

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced today (Monday) that, up to 3 October 2008, it had received 5,567 complaints from retail investors alleging improper selling of investment products by licensed banks. In 4,205 cases, the HKMA had received the initial complaint and assigned a complaint number to facilitate follow-up action.

China joint venture for F&C and Hua Xia Bank

F&C Asset Management has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hua Xia Bank agreeing in principle to form a joint venture fund management company in China. The move is a key milestone in F&C’s strategy of building a presence in Asia following the opening of its first office in the region, in Hong Kong, earlier this year.
